Welcome to AIS PREP
The American Indian Services Pre-freshman Engineering Program (AIS PREP) is a six-week, academically-enriched summer program designed to intellectually prepare and challenge students grades seven through nine. AIS PREP provides three summers of rigorous academic instruction, educational hands-on projects, challenging homework assignments, and daily career awareness.
Under the direction of Dr. Sylvia McMillan, the AIS PREP program focuses on high-achieving 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students who have an interest and aptitude in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
American Indian Services is a partner of PREP USA and an advocate of higher education.

AIS PREP Curriculum
AIS PREP provides its students with academic instruction, challenging assignments, hands-on projects, and career presentations from professionals in various fields. Over the course of six weeks, for three consecutive summers, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students are provided hands-on learning experiences in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
AIS PREP curriculum is designed to help prepare and encourage young students to pursue academic degrees and professional careers in the STEM fields. The following is the three-year curriculum for PREP students:
- Logic and Its Application to Mathematics
- Introduction to Engineering
- Problem Solving I
- Algebraic Structures
- Introduction to Physics
- Problem Solving II
- Introduction to Technical Writing
- Introduction to Probability and Statistics
- Problem Solving III
- Daily Career Speaker Presentations
- Weekly Field trips
